    1. on the UPC sticker on the side of the box if you still have that
    around
    2. from the phone by pressing on the middle button on the left side ->
    scroll down to Main Menu -> press the middle button to select it ->
    scroll down to Phone Options -> press the middle button to select it
    -> scroll down to Phone Info -> press the middle button to select it
    -> you should see Serial Num.

    The serial number you see using method 2 is the hexidecimal version,
    usually 8 characters in length that inlcudes and combination of
    numbers and the letters A to F. (Hex and decmial version of the ESN
    are identical numbers once converted from one form to the other.)

    I just used 123456 on my star tac and it worked!!
    Changed it to 000000

    Neither worked...they changed it when they activated the phone to something
    else i do believe.
