Hi,
My three years old Motorola Timeport 250 totally suddenly "died". I switched
it off in the evening, and next morning it did not start. Totally silent.
Doesn't work either with battery or charger or both. How is it possible that
a phone stops functioning by itself during switch-off mode, and is there
anything to do to fix it?

The button could have went bad. I take you are eligiable with T-Mobile to get a new phone. I would do so.
Or if you love your phone so much you can get another one off of ebay, but you are taking chances. The best provider gives you a plan with the minutes you need at the right price. The coverage that you need to make calls all the time.
