I just bought a new set of V551's from a local Cingular store, was at the
mall yesterday and wanted to get a faceplate kit to make mine different than
my wifes (easier to tell apart).
The guy at the Kiosk said he would install the faceplate kit free, so I left
the phone and came back 15 mins later to find the kit didn't fit
(aftermarket kit and was a bit bulgy on sides) so I said just put my OEM
stuff back on.
When he did this switch back to my originals and I got my phone back I
realized the faceplate screw cover things (little rubber nubby type things)
were pretty beat up, one is all torn up and the others full of holes and
marks on their sides etc.
This phone is new and I was PISSED, the guy of course just apologized over
and over but now I have a new phone with 4 faceplate screw covers that are
all torn up.
I wrote motorola via email and haven't got a reply yet, does anyone know
where I can get replacements of these by chance or some afternarket ones
that would fit it?
Thanks for any help,
Bill

Good luck. Motorola doesn't sell such things to end users. I've been
looking to replace the roofing-nail size cap that goes in the handsfree
socket on top, and nobody has those either. Best bet is to find an
independent repair outfit that has access to Motorola parts (like an
authorized service center ... look for one under the Support link on the
Motorola website) and buy a set through them.
