i90c antenna problem

I just purchased a Nextel i90c and have a problem with the antenna as it
will not stay in the extended ( or closed )position. Held upright the
antenna drops back into the phone except for about 3/4". Held upside down
the antenna extends to about 4". Are there any "user" adjustments to
correct this or is it a trip back to Nextel / Motorola ?
