Problems with i730?

Have one since Feb this year and in the last 2 months I have experienced one
recurring problem in about 7 out of 10 calls: Sometime during the
conversation the other party can no longer hear me, though I can hear them.
Invariably, the other party will believe I hung up, so that after calling
out many "Hello? Hello? You still there?" they hang up themselves. This
happens whether or not the other party uses a cell or land line phone.

Is this a common problem with other 730s (or other Nextel phones)? Perhaps
just a problem with mine?

I haven't had that problem with mine. I know two other people with this
phone who I see on a regular basis, and they haven't mentioned it to me,
either. Perhaps it's a reception/transmission issue with your area....?

I have this with my i80s from time to time. My wife has a 730 but has not
mentioned having this happen to her.

This has happened with my 730, my old 95 and my older 85. I think its just
part of cellular service, being in an area with weak service.

we have three i730's and haven't had this problem.

Welcome to digital service. X's or O's, on or off, you have it or you
don't, No static! Your voice is converted to data and smashed into a
packet and sent over the air then converted back to analog. Meaning
if it is to weak you lose packets and parts of the conversation. In or
out doesn't matter. That is why it often sounds like you are gargling
under water.

All the 3 digit Nextel phones(i730, 205..) use a different size (6:1
ratio) for the packets of data than the 2 digit phones (i90, i85..)
(3:1 ratio)for the cellular service. So the quality of a cellular
call will be less on a 3 digit phone in a weak area. But on the up
side the change allows Nextel to double it's cellular capacity.
