I have a i730 on the TELUS Mobility Mike network. When I start up the
GPS it takes 15+ minutes for the phone to get any coordinates.
I've tried both standing still in an open field, and driving at 50KM/h
or faster. In either case, my standalone GPS was able to lock in with a
3D lock within 1 minute.
I'm curious if this is typical?
One thought I had, my standalone GPS asks approximately where I am
before it can give me exact coordinates, if I don't give it accurate
enough information it can take 10-15 minutes to correct itself.
With that in mind, is it possible that Nextel broadcasts approximate
locations from the towers, whereas TELUS does not, which could explain
why I can't lock in quickly?

Are you in Nextel or TELUS territory?

You're not as stupid as you look, or sound, or our best testing indicates.
