I have 2 phones T-Mobile and Verizon. I live in Queens, NYC.
Immediatlty after the blackout all phones were normal. But by 10 minutes
into it only my Verizon was working. The T-Mobile was not even
sending/receving messages till 22 hours into the blackout.

My friend in Manhattan has Nextel and Sprint. Calls to Nextel are not going
thru even now. Sprint worked 4 hours after the blackout.

What were your experiences? Also state where you faced difficultly i.e.
Queens. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx or Staten Island.

BEDMINSTER, NJ - Verizon Wireless reports that call volumes on its
nationwide network are normal and customer calls and text messages continue
    to go through.
In the power-affected areas of the 5 boroughs of New York City, Detroit and
    Cleveland:
VERIZON WIRELESS ENCOURAGES CUSTOMERS TO MAKE CALLS AND SEND TEXT MESSAGES.
Any isolated service outages that remain, due to cell sites exceeding
back-up power, continue to be resolved as commercial power is restored. All
switches continue to be working and processing calls.
The company's retail stores are all open for business, except for a handful
in areas where commercial power is not yet restored.
    Customer service is operating normally
