    Hola,

Funny how when I bought my phone Nextel exclaimed that there were so
many free java applications/games available on their iden site, but
only after I buy my phone i find out there isn't more than ten.

Anyony know of freeware j2me apps available for motorola phones,
specifically the i88s? Perhaps a freeware community, or GPL community
    that does j2me?

how did you get so many ringtones ? Were they converted from .wav or .mp3
files ? I have been trying to get some files converted but instead got an
education about the differences between .wav/.mp3, and midi files. I don't
have the patience to work out the different instruments. How did you get
    yours?

WAV and MP3 files are recorded sound bits. MIDI doesn't contain any
actual sound. A midi is basically a file that contains instructions
for a midi player, on what voice, tone and timing to use.

    http://xgmidi.wtal.de/intro.html

You won't be able to convert MP3 or WAV to midi format.
