Does anyone know if you can use an i58sr as a modem?
I don't want to pay for Nextel rates, but I'm thinking of simply connecting
the phone to the USB as a modem device, dialing into BellSouth and going
from there.

Re: i58sr as modem
I downloaded that, and tried to dial in. the phone says "setting up data
call" and then it times out and the comp says no dial tone was detected. i
assume this is because i havnt paid for dial up service. my question is
then, what good is this driver? when you get dial up you can download this
software to use it with.

Re: i58sr as modem
Though I have not tried it yet, the software more than likely is simply a
driver to allow the pc to see the phone as a modem when it really isn't.
In my case, I'll use the phone as a modem and dial into a BellSouth local
ISP number. Once connected, I can then run IE type requests which is my
objective.
It doesn't circumvent Nextel's selling of ISP services, it simply makes the
phone a modem to call whoever you want.

comes with NOL for your handset

Re: i58sr as modem
sometimes if you ask the right rep nicely they will give it to you, simply
because you end up using your cell minutes anyway.. Why pay to use something
you're already paying for ?? :-) at least that's how some reps see it.
