    Ok,

    I know that there's issues with using WEBJAL, XP and a USB connection
    but I've read that the latest version of WEBJAL, coupled with the USB
    drivers should make everything work.

    Well...at least in my case it doesn't.

    When I fire up WEBJAL, I get the little stop sign "Please wait while
    application loads"..that's no problem however right after that, I get
    a dialog box that says, "The application was unable to retrieve
    required information from the server."

    I installed the registry patch that changes the URL location to:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motorola\WebJAL]
    "SITE_URL"="https://jalauth.ns01.us"

    If it just directly go that site I get the following error:

    "1999valid11" on the web page.

    Anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem? I think
    that if I can get past this problem, it should work.

    The maker of Webjal is now requiring a $5.00 donation to gain access
    to the server. With this donation you will get a username and
    password. Go to www.ideninsider.com and read about it in the forums.
    You'll also find the link to donate there.

    <snip>

    be wary of that donation, all that has to happen is Motorola makes a change
    to the firmware on the phone and suddenly WebJAL does not work. Now, you
    might say that you won't update your firmware and you are around the
    problem. What if that firmware update is suddenly required to access the
    network and Motorola actually sent it to each phone via the network ? Then
    you would have a WebJAL that no longer works.

    Don't get me wrong, I don't think WebJAL should have any restrictions but
    you need to remember, it was written by Motorola, they get to say who uses
    it. Motorola makes you get permission from your carrier to upload apps to
    your phone. I guess for security reasons, not really sure.
