Someone told me that you can download the latest software for the I95cl over
the air if you subscribe to the internet service but the webpage says you
have to pirchase the cable.

Re: I95cl software updates
Here's the scoop. You can download just about anything over the air if you
have web service on your Nextel phone. There is one major exception to
this - phone software updates. To update your phones software you MUST use a
data cable connection because of the process for upgrading the software. 1st
step is backing up your phone's original software, then your new software is
downloaded and applied to the unit, then the phone does a powercycle, then
any java applications are redownloaded. If you don't want to buy a cable,
you can go to any service center and they can do it for you. I personally
suggest getting a cable, because you can do other things on your phone, like
store your phonebook on your computer, download new ringtones/wallpaper/java
applications without having to have web service on the phone. With the right
software, you can download free stuff for your phone. Just be careful,
because most of the software I refer to is not supported by Nextel or
Motorola.
