    I recently bought a Jabra BT250 headset for my Nokia 6310i. Although I
    frequently use bluetooth to connect the Nokia to my iPaq or laptop to
    get emails, this is the first time I've used a bluetooth headset.

    I've had two problems:

    1. I pair the two devices with the BT250 as a headset rather than a
    handsfree, as they recommend in the instructions, as there are more
    features in the headset profile. However, most times when I switch the
    units off then on again, it forgets this and pairs only as a
    handsfree;

    2. More seriously, there is a lot of signal degradation between the
    phone and the headset, which can be irritating for me but on occasion
    has made it almost impossible for the other party to understand what
    I'm saying (it's a similar problem to bad cellular reception, but is
    happening when there's a great GSM signal and occurs only when I'm
    using the headset.

    I tried sending the Jabra back, expecting it to be faulty, but the
    replacement is exactly the same. Are these problems endemic either to
    the Jabra or to bluetooth headsets generally, or could my 6310i be at
    fault?

    I have a 200 which is perfect. Always pairs as a headset and I get about
    10 metres range out of it. I have 5.51 fw on my 6310i.

    As far as I know the only diff between the 200 and 250 is the battery
    life.

    Same combination works perfectly for me...no problems whatsoever and very
    happy with the setup

    I assume you're running firmware version 5.50 or later, when Nokia
    finally sorted out the 6310i's bluetooth implementation? If you don't
    know, key *#0000# to find out and if it's earlier then you'll need to
    have it flashed at a Nokia Service Centre.

    Even if it's outside the 12-month warranty period they should do it
    FOC if you make it clear that you need to have the latest version for
    bluetooth compatibility.
