I'm considering getting prepaid service with T-Mobile, which is available
in my area. Looking at the phones available with the prepaid service, the
Nokia 3595 seems the most appealing. Is there anything I should seriously
worry about with this carrier and phone?

I can't say anything about T-Mobile because I've never used them.

But the 3595 I purchased and unlocked it just this past December. I like
it, I had the 3390 before that. The color screen the 3595 has is much nicer
& a couple of the games are much better also.

If you do get one you really should get the data cable. Then do like I did
& personalize the phone to your own liking. I ditched out all Nokia's
things & downloaded all my own games, pics, & tones.

    Good luck

I have the 3595 with AT&T. I like it. I also bought a data cable off eBay
with the hopes up getting online with my laptop. I discovered you can not
do that but you probably wouldn't want to do that anyhow. However, you can
use the data cable to transfer info as mentioned. I wish it had a speaker
    phone though. Good Luck! DonnaB

How can I find out if I am in a native T-Mobile location city for sure?
If anyone knows how, I'm in Lansing, MI.

Well, I took the plunge. I got Nokia 3595. Perhaps a little to fancy in
terms of features for me, and I should have gone for the more basic Nokia
3390 for $30 less. While the 3595 has somewhat of a learning curve to figure
out, I have managed to do OK so far. Nice phone, with more than adequately
loud audio. Having said that, no doubt my phone will now self-destruct.
Only criticism I have of the phone is that the display is hard to see
without the backlight on. Only a problem when using the phone as a timepiece
    rather than a telecommunications device.

The good news is that I actually get a solid connection to the network at
my home. Just not possible with the TDMA providers like ATT 'round here.
Only problem with T-Mobile so far was I had to jump through some hoops, and
wrong information from some customer service folks, to totally kill the
voice mail service, which is something I don't want. Even by e-mail I got
incorrect info. I managed to call 611 and get the CS rep to actually connect
me with the tech support folks. The guy I talked to figured out what CS had
done wrong before, and correctly set the account to disable all vestiges of
    voice mail.

While not mentioned on the website, apparently T-Mobile has a promo until
June that if a $25 or more card is added by then to the account, the
expiration date for the minutes will be extended for a full year, rather
than the usual 90 days. For those who are looking for a cheap mobile phone
to use mostly for minor emergencies (say a car breakdown), or rare
occasional use, they might do well to check out T-Mobile if they are in
their service area. This can be cheaper than even Tracfone on a per month
basis. Main issue here may be that Tracfone is strictly TDMA, while T-Mobile
is strictly GSM. For those who want or need TDMA, T-Mobile isn't the way to
    go.

Tracfone is not strictly TDMA. It depends on what part of the US you
are in. Some places Tracfone is CDMA and uses CDMA networks and
analog AMPS. It's that way in Washington state.

    I stand corrected.
