The latest is 3.17.
What are you planning to flash the phone with?

I think this applies to the Orange phones only. 3.15 is the latest
on all others.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Nope, 3.17 is the latest and it's not just for Orange handsets. The full
firmware is over 90 meg and contains all the PPM packs.

So since my phone is only a week old, I should be able to go to
a Nokia shop and get it flashed? I understand that flashing myself
is possible but requires equipment.
Do you know of official information on the firmware, e.g. somewhere
on nokia.com?
Also, while I have not had any severe problems with the 6230 yet
(other than I can't get Internet over Bluetooth to work), it would
probably help to know of some problems that are fixed by the new
firmware 3.17 in case the shop assistants are uncooperative. Could
you give me some ideas?
Thanks,
m

Some will still charge unless you tell them about an issue you are
having with the current firmware. Plenty to pick from here:-

This lists 4.28 to be the latest 6230 firmware. Can anyone confirm
this?
Also, what's the deal with the 4.1 Mb of phone memory it eats? How
does that affect the phone?
Thanks,
m

4.28 is for the 6230 version (triband with GSM 900, GSM 1800, and GSM
1900)
4.22 is for the 6230b version (triband with GSM 850, GSM 1800, and GSM
1900 )
No idea why the available memory has dropped so much... I have asked
the same question before (in a different news group) without a
response - guess nobody reading knew the answer yet.

I found Nokia Germany to be unexpectedly communicative. I received
two answers to questions I submitted to customer service. I know
posted a followup and hope to get information on the memory drop.
I will let you know, of course.
