Hi,
Is it possible to get the 6230 to play a sound file as it's Text Alert? It's
easy to set a sound file to be a Ringtone, but I can't see a way to get one
assigned as a Text Alert...
Any help gratefully received!

Menu >settings > Tone Settings > Message alert tone
Scroll down to ringing tone > open gallery
From there find the tone you want for messages

Re: Nokia 6230 Text Alert question
All this fancy ringtone stuff is new to me, and I've been resisting for so
long, until I had a 6230 shoved in my face by my employer, to replace my
6310i.
Now I love it!
I've been searching for ages trying to find the exact ringtone I want. It's
a "classic" phone ring .. not the crappy American "riiiiiing", but the good
old British "ring ring". Can't get a decent one anywhere! The search is
still on !

Re: Nokia 6230 Text Alert question
Why not just record (voice recorder) your OWN "announcement", and use that
as a message alert tone.
As an alternative, pick up a midi file from somewhere, load it on your card,
and assign THAT as an "announce tone"..
Enjoy

Re: Nokia 6230 Text Alert question
So, continuing in this vein, is there a website somwhere where one may
download other equally classy ringtones? Any favourites, ladies and gents?

Re: Nokia 6230 Text Alert question
Personally, I prefer to find wav/mp3/midi files online from the various
sound effect websites out there, and then stick them on the phone. I'd
rather not be signing up to these 'four tones a week' deals or whatever they
are. I never trust a website which opens sh*tloads of windows underneath!

Get an audio editor (audacity etc) and a few MP3s and roll your own.
As long as you don't have a Voda MP3s will work as ringtones in a
6230.
