What do you mean by "blank logo"? A 128 x 128 pixel jpg that's all
white? An empty file? Or what?
I'm using an 128 x 128 jpg, it works just fine.

If a post plus a quote is so short that it's all visible on a single
page, I find the opinion expressed below somewhat pedantic:

I had installed a blank logo from a wap site on my earlier 6230
(version 3.17 firmware) which worked fine, but the new handset I
received yesterday (version 4.44) refused to save the blank logo file.
The trial version of Oxygen Phone Manager however has worked, so
dowload it and:-
- Expand your phone in navigation tree
- Expand Gallery manager in navigation tree
- Click on Graphics in navigation tree
- Right click the blank logo .gif file you've d/l already
- Select Set as Operator logo from context menu
NB - I had my handset firmware upgraded to 5.24 last month, and of
course lost the transparent logo option in the process. This method
worked fine again.

*** Top-posting corrected *** (see sig for why!)
No it's not weird, it's common for this handset and firmware releases
from 4.28 upwards. Receiving/copying/downloading a transparent .gif
file still works with earlier firmware but, as you've discovered,
later handsets still refuse to allow the operator logo to be changed.
I understand that the full version of MobiMB will also enable your
transparent logo, though there's no need to buy anything as Oxygen's
trial version can do it for free. Just follow the steps above.
Note that if you trawl your way through the Howard and Expansys forums
you'll find some threads that indicate that none of this will be of
any use on a T-Mobile-supplied handset, as these steadfastly refuse to
co-operate. I've not committed the full story to memory, but those
who remain defeated in their attempts to utilise transparent operator
logos are almost always on that network.
There is some speculation that the SIM card overides this handset
option, preventing the network logo from being altered. [SIM control
of handset options is technically possible with both T-Mobile and
Orange handsets.]
