JD-
Why are you changing phones away from the 6820? I have one too, and I'm
on the ATT/Cingular network, and have been assured that the phone is
supported on the merged network. In fact when I bought it last fall,
good access to the merged network was one of the deciding factors in
picking the phone.
I travel a lot; the phone works great everywhere now, definitely better
than on the ATT network pre-merger.
They'll take my 6820 when they pry it out of my cold dead fingers... or
when a better phone comes along :-)

You can do this with LogoManager Pro Suite - take a look at:

Re: transferring ringtone off 6820
Hey Marc.
to be on a cingular plan, i had to "upgrade" my phone. they told me a
cingular SIm wouldn't work in an AT&T phone. i had to change my plan
to add my father and brother to my family plan. (FYI...you can't do a
family plan w/ different area codes...no matter what the *#$&%# sales
people tell you. LIARS.) i miss the 6820. i had to fight and scream
about parting with it. i still have it....i dont want to give it up.
but i can't use it w/ a cingular sim card.
the blackberry i got is really cool. but i still miss the simplicity
of my 6820...sigh.
beware of the salespeople/customer service people on the phones at
cingular. they suck ass. i would never ever ever ever recommend
dealing w/ the people on the phone. go to the store if you can....and
talk to a manager. everyone else that works for the company is out
there to screw you. that has to be the motto of the cingular/at&t
merger. 'screw as many customers as you can and make sure you point
the finger at someone else".
i miss AT&T wireless.

Hi JD-
Sorry to hear your tale of woe. Fortunately I'm not in need of the
family plan option, as my phone is sponsored by work and separate from
my wife's phone.
Interesting note about the SIM incompatibility. About a month after the
merger, I had to get a new SIM because mine developed a problem
(actually, I got a new 6820 and a new SIM, but the real problem turned
out to be the SIM--long story). It was Cingular by then, but the SIM
worked.
Being on a corporate account, I might be getting better service than
people that are on individual accounts. I've been quite pleased with
the new service. Much better coverage, and the few times I've called
customer tech support my concerns were dealt with quickly and
efficiently. My only gripe so far was a dispute about the rebate on the
phone. It was rejected for no good reason; but a call to the rebate
center and a stern letter cleared it up.
Can you get the phone unlocked somehow?

Re: transferring ringtone off 6820
i was hoping i could get the phone unlocked. i didn't want to try it
until i was sure i could do it. sigh. i miss my 6820. hehehe
i heard that cingular really kisses corporate account asses. my mom
has a business and i told her we shoudl have opened up a corp. account.
but it's too late for now. we can see how it goes. maybe cingular
will work out all the problems and be what AT&T used to be. i'm hoping.

All I do is send them via Bluetooth to the PC then send them back if I want
to use them again.
