I drive a big rig and it is loud inside the cab. I just got a Nokia 6255i
phone from Altell and they sold me the Motorola HS-820,
Doesn't work well in the truck. There is no vertical adjustment and I guess
I have big ears, the speaker is above my ear canal. Full volume is not
enough in the truck unless I manually pull it down and press it against my
ear, then what is the point of a headset?
The other problem is that the boom on the mic is so short that it is inches
from my mouth and picks up the truck better than my voice.
So, I can't hear who I am talking to and they mostly hear the truck sounds.
Also, the Voice dial doesn't seem to work between Moto headset and Nokia
phone.
I think that I need a headset with an in-ear speaker, and a longer boom that
is closer to the mouth and less sensitive to background noise.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Kirk

I'm not in a noisy truck, but quite a noisy van. Am using the Nokia 6260
Bluetooth phone with a headset Jabra 205V. People on the other end say
I am coming in clear and I hear them clearly. Believe your phone is also
a BT. Don't know anything about Altell nor their service in a vehicle.
I first tried a Motorola headset and found it uncomfortable, then went to
a store and tried the Jabra and was instantly sold. It fits directly
into the ear with a nice tight clip over the top that does not allow the
earphone to fall off and the boom is of medium length, presumably quite
noise proof. Try it at in front of a store with your engine revved up
and see what you think.

Miles,
Did you mean Jabra 250? I can't seem to find a 205?

Yes, sorry, Jabra 250. The 250V is the latest model which vibrates when
the phone rings -- I was hesitant at first, since I did not want my ear
jingling, but find it not to be obtrusive -- and you can shut it off --
furthermore, don't know if the plain old 250 is still available.

Nokiausa.com has two Bluetooth headsets compatible with your 6255i, and
each is $80, the HDW3 and HS11W. I have no experience with them, but if
interested, you might search the newsgroup for any words of wisdom. As I
said before, I have a Jabra 250V and am very satisfied -- but that
doesn't mean it will also work best for you!
