Backing up SMS messages on the 6600

Hi, I own a Nokia 6600 and I'm trying to back up my SMS messages on to
my PC. Anyone know how to do this?

I have set messages to be stored on my memory card but can't see any
files that look like messages when I browse the card. In contrast,
backing up photos was really easy.

Perhaps related: when I used Nokia PC Suite to back up my phone, it
tried for a bit and then displayed a message saying it could not
complete the backup.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Update: I removed my MMC from the phone and tried doing a backup of the
phone alone -- worked! But I noticed that all data is stored in some
kind of compressed DAT format. How do I decode this format (assuming I
am also able to backup the MMC too at some point)?
