For some reason, Orange has removed the active stanby option from control
panel\tools\settings\phone\standby mode.
As a result, "active standby" is always on (a bit like active desktop on
Windows) and I find it rather ugly (blurred image, useless keys that I can't
edit any more as the option has been removed).
Would any one know of a way to get this option back ?
Thanks.

Re: Nokia 6680 on Orange. Active Standby.
Yes it will. Costs about £15-20 to get it reflashed, You may have to
post it to someone though (I charge £15 and that includes the return
postage).

....meaning no operator branding.

yeah. What operators use little or no branding. I don't mind a few
screensavers etc. but I don't want a phone that's completely different to
what Nokia want it to be like. Vodafone???

Voda and orange appear to use lock out some options. Not sure about the
others, but certainly voda and orange are the ones complained about the
most.

Last time I checked, no-one had the N70 firmware. It isn't on the Griffin,
Twister or UFS support sites yet.

Possibly, but it also appears that it's not on Nokia Service Point either.
I'd be careful and make sure it's what it says it is before using it to
flash an N70.

Its not NEW firmware, just a non branded version.

I never said it was new or anything else for that matter. The firmware
simply isn't available whether its from official sources (Nokia Service
Point) or unofficial.
All I'm saying is that if even a level four service centre doesn't have
access to the firmware, you need to be careful that what you've got is
actually N70 firmware and not something else renamed.

Must have missed that. Thanks Brian.
