Nokia 6021, PC suite 6.6.18 and IRDA connection... (not!)

Previously had Nokia 6310i with PCsuite 4.88. IRDA connectivity and
back-up worked great. Upgraded to 6021 and PC suite 6.6. No IRDA
connectivity, uninstalled, re-installed, PC suite many times. Spent
hours on phone to Nokia help desk. Deleted, re-installed, blah,
blah!

Used PC suite cleaner, re-installed, still no IRDA recognition.

6021 connects via IR with my PC (XP Pro SP2) no problems. Can send
files from PC to phone, no problems.

Just won't connect to PC suite.

Error code: MMList empty, please re-install PC suite.

Please can anyone help me, I'm going nuts trying to work out what I'm
doing wrong here.
