The last PC Suite aborted install just before finishing.
The current version starts installing, but then it starts Windows
Installer and that closes again, and starts, and closes and....
And I have to kill the Nokia install to stop this :-(
Can't they do anything right :-(

I'm not 100% sure but there should be a program on the nokia site that
completely removes all of PC Suites components that PC Suites uninstaller
doesn't. In a nutshell don't use PC Suite unless you need the sync software.
You should be able to send information by bluetooth directly to the phone
just using windows.

Think yourself lucky, I can't *uninstall* the damned thing. I've run the
uninstall program, also a cleanup application and I still get error
messages every day telling me Windows can't find one of the startup files
for PC Suite. I manually edit the registry to remove the offending item
and next day it's back again.

I need it for reading images (OPM2 doesn't work right with IRDA).
So I only need the "Phone Browser" (the Explorer extension).
So if anyone know how to keep that and uninstall the rest then...
Nothing else. Don't have datacable or blutooth (then I'd use OPM2).

I had same problem with PC Suite for my 6600. However, there is a Registry
Cleaner available from Nokia (was in same section as 6600 PC Suite), which
takes out a couple of registry entries before you re-install. Worth
investigating...

I tried that, it doesn't work, I still get messages every day from Norton
Firewall that it can't find a PC Suite startup file. I checked all the
entries in there as well, still get the errors. Every day, even after I
manually delete the errant line from the registry.

Re: Stupid PC Suite still won't install
There's a tool called 'regfind' that microsoft includes with the resource
kit. If you use that you can seek out the various registry keys and then
use regedit to manually delete them. I used it to excise all the nokia
crap. I had to search for various Nokia named things.
Yes, you shouldn't have to do this. It's Nokia's fault for writing such
****e to begin with. That their uninstaller doesn't work, and nor does
their utility, is just inexcusable. It's not Microsoft's fault.

Stop top posting and people will stop complaining, or whining as you call
it.
