I bought a generic cable but couldn't get it to work so I bit the bullet
and bought the genuine [expensive] cable. It still didn't work and gave
the same error. I have come to the conclusion that it all rests with
installing the drivers the correct way, but the instructions are
sometimes vague or (in the case of the generic drivers) contradictory. I
think if you have had a cable set up previously and try to add a new
one, you will have problems.
If you find a site that explains things simply, please let me know.

Did you EVER get either one to work? If you have trouble with the genuine
Nokia software, there seems to be plenty of help at their site.

I emailed support who told me only a CA42 cable would work but another
page on the same site tells me that either a DKU5 OR a CA42 will work.
The guy who sold me the genuine Nokia cable looked it up and it said
DKU5 was the one to use.
Next time I will get a bluetooth phone, I am sick of all this cable
hassle.
