    Hello,
I bought a new Nokia 6100 off ebay. It is unlocked (supposidly). I also have a 6200, which im borrowing from a friend. The 6200 works fine, but when I put my sim card in the 6100 it never connects to the network. It has never been registered on a network before. The 6200 can connect to GSM 850/1900 and the 6100 can do 900/1800/1900. I have been assured by my provider (Cellular One) that both 850 and 1900 are being used in my area, so I assume it should work. Do I have to do anything on the phone to get it to work?

    Thanks in advance!
    Robert

Have you tried a network search? What happens?

It comes up with "No networks found".

    Sorry to hear that.

Maybe it is locked, as you suspect, or their is only 850 in your
neighbourhood. You could travel and see what happens, or borrow a
friend's sim, sorry I can't be more specific.

Maybe you should take this up with the seller, they may be able to
    help you?

Just for interest, I had a look at the Nokia web site for USA. This
phone does not appear there, so would have GSM 1900, not 850.

It is possible that this phone is locked, or the service provider only
has GSM 850, or only hands over to 1900 from 850 (which would be
    unusual).

    More like it is locked.
