Hi
I am trying to connect CA-42 (Copy Cable) with Nokia 6610 & 3125 (CDMA)
and cannot connect
- WinXP with SP2
- Tried with PC Suite 6.82 & 6.5 (earlier)
The system hangs when trying to connect (from PC Suite)
I installed PC Suite, and from control panel>Nokia Manage
Connections>Serial (all others uncheked)>Configure->Nokia Ca-42 on
com(n)
The Nokia CA-42 on com(n) option appears only when Cable is inserted
(phone may not be connected)
Can anyone assist me in connecting
Is an original cable guaranteed to work (I wanted the Nokia shop to
demonstrate / test) but they refused and i did not want to risk the
expenses.

Hello!

It looks like you are using PL-2303 ProLific based thirdparty cable. These
cables are not CA-42 or DKU-5, even if it is written so on their package, as
they are based on non-Nokia chipset. We support PL-2303-based cables both in
Oxygen Phone Manager II and Oxygen Express. Non-original cables are
incompatible with original Nokia software.

Maxim, I would have thought that people would be tired of hearing this
sort of misdirection by now - surely as an industry specialist you must
know that it is not usually true??
People reading this need to be clear that the compatibility depends on
the capability of the handset and the design of the cable, not whether
the cable is made by Nokia or not.
There are of course plenty of phones out there that don't support Nokia
software or modem functionality at all: in those cases you could
perhaps say that all third party cables are be incompatible with the
Nokia software since the phone itself is incompatible with it.
However the 6610 and 3125 do not fall into this category.

Re: CA-42 does not connect 6610 & 3125 (Win XP)
When I connect this ca-42 copy cable to
Nokia 6610 I get the error msg "Accessory not supported" on the phone,
and when I connect to 3215 CDMA, I get the error msg "Enhancement not
supported" on the phone
If the phone itself does not accept the cable then will it eventually
connect to the computer even thru any other software
