hey, i'm thinking about getting this phone too, but not thru Cincinnati
    Bell (i'm going with Cingular).

what about it don't you like? is it the reception, dropped calls or
    roaming?

right now i have a sprint phone that operates on CDMA. i hate it -
reception is sometimey and battery is a joke.

before i had a nextel phone that used IDEN. looking back, that phone
    wasn's so bad.

i don't know much about TDMA and GSM. i just want a phone with good
    reception and a killer battery.

    what do you suggest?

I would suggest a GSMnot only do their batteries last forever I also find
the reception is battery less dropped calls and clarity is amazing...I found
CDMA and TDMA usually drain a battery pretty fast anyways my 2 cents

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON A GOOD GSM PHONE?

I CHECKED AT THE CINGULAR WEBSITE & I SAW ONE THAT ALLEGED TO HAVE
ALMOST 6.5 HOURS OF TALK TIME. HERE AT PHONE SCOOP IT ONLY SAYS 4.0

IT'S THE NOKIA 6340i. I STOPPED BY CINGULAR TO SEE HOW ERGONOMIC IT WAS
& I LIKED THE WAY IT FELT IN MY HAND, BUTTONS WERENT ALL WEIRD LIKE MOST
ARE THESE DAYS. HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT IT?

Foul language aside, your advice to "stay away" is hardly necessary on the
3560. Some people like myself must use TDMA and roam nationwide with a cell
phone and are even forced to use ----- dare I say it ---- Analog on
occasion. The 3560 is quite an upgrade for people like me and I am very
pleased to have some nice features normally reserved for the GSM crowd.

The 3560 is the perfect size, has great reception, adequate battery life and
a wonderful sound to it. I talk about 2000 minutes a month and people often
are surprised when I tell them I'm on a cell phone. I can actually hear
what they are saying too. There are a few minor annoyances like the
screensaver clock that I can't seem to disable, and the fact that the screen
is a bit too dim once the backlight turns off, but the benefits far outweigh
    the annoyances.

Now go get yourself a 3650 instead of a 3560 and you can download the
simpsons ringtones and send little heart icons to your friends or whatever
else you do to waste time. I will use mine to talk to people with thank
    you.

I would suggest the Nokia 6340i with Cingular, as it is very
functional/practical, and has GSM 850/1900 MHz, TDMA 800/1900 MHz, and 800
MHz AMPS (Analog). It has very good reception and call clarity, and has
excellent battery life. The battery life is up to 4 hours talk time, when
using TDMA, and up 6 hours talk time when using GSM.
I have had my Nokia 6340i since April 2003, and I am very happy with its
features, and its ability to obtain service wherever there is service,
regardless of air interface (<CDMA, of course).
By the way, TDMA will be available for the foreseeable future, but
Cingular is overlaying their network with GSM, and the Nokia 6340i will
allow you to use any present and future Cingular GSM, as well as any present
    TDMA.

    Have a good one,

Remember, however, that the 6340i will use the band that
your local network operates on. If you're in Ohio, it's
most likely TDMA not GSM. I believe Cingular has only
rolled out GSM in the old BellSouth market. Accordingly,
you need to look at the TDMA reception, battery life, etc.
    to make your choice.

Cingular GSM is running in much of the country I believe. I know for
sure it's up in New England, NY, NJ, Philly, on the west coast, and as
you mentioned in the Bell South area.
