Generally, the phone won't overwrite until it is nearing or has reached its
capacity; which is 150 on the phone and up to 30 on the SIM. The SIM card
memory is filled first as an inbox before the phone, usually.

30 SMSs on a SIM? SO lousy?? Malaysia's TMtouch network (502 13) SIMs could
    store 40 SMSs and 250 phonebook...hehehe

That all sounds good, but once the phone is full to capacity, my new
messages are no longer saved. Only the older messages remain, until I clear
    out the folder.
