Hi, I just bought a Nokia 3650 with AT&T service, and have their basic 1MB
data (WAP?) service for $7.99/mo. I have e-mail accounts at Yahoo (which may
have a wap site?) and webmail.directnic.com. The DirectNic mail is also
linked to my PC's Outlook Express if that will be of any help. Directnic
told me they don't yet have a wap site but may be working on one. I tried
just their regular URL and got part of their regular login page with all the
graphics, but it was huge! Only a small section at a time was viewable, and
I scrolled down to where to put in username and password, and no text fields
there to input data. As I downloaded a whole normal webpage, it probably
wiped out half my 1MB allowance right there. Any more KB friendly and
browser friendly way to visit my Directnic site? Thanks,

    Dan

Nevermind, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong at Yahoo, and can
now pop my DirectNic mail thru there too. In case anyone needs a wap address
for yahoo, it's http://wap.oa.yahoo.com It will work on your pc too, but
give you a real simple window with no ads!

Why not just use the POP3 access built into the 3650??

Yahoo certainly provide pop3 access. the most streamlined method available.
Connect, get the mail, finished. no ad's, no extra HMTL junk. maybe 1kb of
banter to connect, but thats about it - it doesn't even donload the email
unless you want it to - so saving you even more.

Martin, I just tried the route you suggested, and it's a no-go, I get the
message "unable to connect to email server" on my 3650. It looks like you're
in the UK. In the US at least, it looks like Yahoo charges $20US a year to
use their POP3 forwarding service, as best I can tell. That's probably why
it won't connect, and I don't feel like paying $20 to find out. Maybe there
    is a work-around? Thanks,

    Dan

It might be that the access point you use only accepts WAP traffic. some
providers have a different APN for WAP and internet use - and pop3 Email
    needs the internet one.

I've never heard of yahoo charging for pop3 access - I've used mine that way
for several years and never been charged, maybe I was just lucky to sign on
    before they started.

Yahoo DOES charge for pop3 access.... unless some policy changed again....
they started charging from 02/2002 or 2003 - cant remember... try
www.softhome.net - generally good server uptime, abuse dept is great, and
the best thing = very little spam!! :-)
