I have a sanyo 5500, if i take a picture on the phone is there a way
to download it to my computer through the data cable? Is any special
    software need to do this?

I was told by someone who talked to a sprint rep that the only way to
get it off the phone was to use picture mail and mail it to someone
(or yourself). They said that the picture mail cost on a per picture
basis and is not included with Vision. Is this true? They also said
that the price of the pictures would vary depending on the size of the
    picutre. Is this also true?

I like the idea of being able to take pictures with my phone, but only
if I can download them into my computer. I don't mind emailing them to
myself or someone, but i'm not going to pay a per picture price for
    it.

    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Dang, man, you got handed one heck of a story. It's a=20
*little* complicated, though, because there's two services=20
working together here. Vision, and Picturemail.

    Picturemail is easy. $5/month. Unlimited.

***HOWEVER***, the catch is that the phone uses Vision to=20
upload those pictures. So, unless you sign up for the=20
Vision service, you pay a per-KB "casual usage" charge. A=20
penny per KB. Thus Picturemail is just one flat fee, but=20
you *could* wind up paying by the KB for using Vision to do=20
    it.

Now, Vision service includes a "Vision Pictures Pack" that=20
is $15/month. The good thing about that pack is that the=20
$15 fee *includes* Picturemail service. So that fee lets=20
you upload and share an unlimited number of pictures.

Incidentally, you don't *have* to email the picture to=20
yourself. Once you upload it, you can go to your=20
    Picturemail account at http://pictures.sprintpcs.com and=20
view all the pictures, *and* download them, right from the=20
    site.

Now, one final twist to the picture. If you opt for the=20
$5/month just for Picturemail, then you pay that per-KB fee=20
*not* just for sending the picture from phone to web site,=20
but *also* for downloading it from the web site to wherever
(PC, another Sprint PCS phone, wherever).

If you think you're going to get into this, take the Vision=20
Pictures Pack. First 2 months free if you haven't had=20
Vision before. And even after that, if you really *are*=20
getting into it, it's very much worth the $15. Especially=20
with the extra goodie it provides: a credit, every month,=20
of up to $5 towards any of the downloads we make available=20
    for the phones.

If you get a vision pictures pack, you can upload pictures all day and
simply pay the $15 rate. I was with verizon with a picture phone.
Verizon wasn't saying what was going to happen to their picture
messaging subscribers after the first of 04 other then we were supposed
to get 20 pictures and then .25 per pic. So I switched to Sprint so I
could upload unlimited pictures for a flat rate.

This is what a vision pictures pack is intended for.... read the

    O.k. here's what i've got right now (i think).

    Clarify me if i'm wrong.

I'm paying $20/month for Ready Link (RL hereafter) and Vision.
I think that the RL is $15 and Vision is $5 more. But at any rate no
matter how I'm paying for it I have RL and Vision on my phone.

How would the whole picture mail thing play into something like that?

And is there a way to upload them to my computer via a data cable and
    some type of software?

Thanks for the quick repley O/Siris.

$5/month. Oh, and **another** $5/month to upload and share=20
the little videos, too. Same deal.

You're welcome. I'm not sure about the cable thing,=20
though. The 5500 is still a new phone. Futuredial and=20
Susteen both have cable and software products that claim to=20
do this for certain phones. I don't know if they've=20
managed it with the VM4500 yet. Check them out:

    http://www.susteen.com

Futuredial seems to say no, at least for now:

    http://www.futuredial.com/matrix/M_Sanyo.htm

    Susteen makes a product called "DataPilot." I don't see=20
the VM4500 even mentioned on their web site:

    http://www.susteen.com/phones_sprint.htm

    Good luck.

Has anyone used the Susteen package? It looks really cool. I'm just looking
for feedback before I buy it.
