    Greetings,

I'm halfway through a 2-year SPCS retention commitment.

    Here's my current package:

    $40, includes-
    750 anytime minutes
3000 night & weekend minutes starting at 8pm
    First Incoming Minute Free
    unlimited PCS-to-PCS
    unlimited Nationwide Long-Distance

There were some other bonuses when I accepted the contract:
    $40 one-time service credit
    $100 new-phone credit
Free unlimited Vision for 2 months, $10/month thereafter

Then, this was "times 3", for the three phones in my household. The other 2 phones have
500 AT minutes, but all the other package features (and signing bonuses), for $30/month.

Questions: Is my package still considered a good deal? Should I be attempting
renegotiations at the 1-year mark? Will SPCS even consider renegotiations?

I believe that I've still got a good deal, a year later. But what do I know ;-> ???

    Best regards,

    Tim ==

Yes, if what you have posted is true, you still have a good deal. Of
course, everybody has the unlimitted long distance minutes from
wherever they are not roaming (which would be nationwide on a national
    a non-local plan).

    *snip*

    > Questions: Is my package still considered a good deal?

A VERY good deal, I'd say. Competition among carriers isn't that great
these days in the peak airtime-bucket department, and so current plans
    aren't as generous as this.

    > Should I be attempting renegotiations at the 1-year mark?

You could try. Not sure how successful you'd be. You MIGHT manage to
get your 3000 night and weekend minutes switched to unlimited (but if
you're not close to exceeding 3000 N&W minutes, then this won't help you
very much). You might also convince them to modify your start time to 7
p.m., though they might want to charge you for it (I was offered the $5
7:00 p.m. add-on with a 5% discount off my total bill, bringing the
effective cost down to about $1.50-$2.00).

    > Will SPCS even consider renegotiations?

Again, considering the current lackluster of plans out there (not just
with Sprint, but all carriers are not being very generous lately),
    probably not.

How many minutes do you use per month?

I pay $65 for exactly what you have, so consider yourself lucky.

What would make the deal better for you? Do you have enough minutes
for your family, etc----From what I read, sprint, appears to give you
what ever minutes you want, but they are very reluctant to cut what
they charge---they gave me this retention rate, as far as minutes go,
and I now have more minutes than I can use---but they charged me an
extra $5 per month, which is really fair for the number of extra
minutes I got---but the more I think about it, it's reminds me of the
way resurants charge--unless you got to a more upscale place, its all
in the $5-10 range, doesn't make any different where you go,
mcdonalds, etc or a steak house type, chinese (lunch time) it's all
the same, you can eat a little or a lot---they are going to take in so
much per head (mouth) they serve---same with the cell phone companies.

My point is, very seldom, do you see a post about reduced monthly
rates; but you will see, especially with sprint (verizon gave me some
free extra's too) the M2M, earlier nights, etc given---

I have noticed in the specs for how well the carriers are doing, it
the average billing, and low churn rate they brag about--so by giving
you some extra stuff they keep the monthly billing up, and the churn
    rate down-winner-winner

I'll bet, if you pay your bills on time, etc, you could get more
minutes and no charge features, new phone discounts, 1 time
credits, etc easier than a cheaper rate--- like the returant, you can
either eat off the menu(the brochure) or the buffet (retention plans)
but yuo pay about the same.
