Hello Group,
I don't have vision - but I have a vision capable phone (8100). I have
read several times in this group that you will not be charged for
sending an email to [email protected]. That is NO
LONGER TRUE. After getting hit with .10 per message I called CS and
found that they've changed their setup to include a charge for it (if
you don't have vision). You can buy a bucket of 100 messages for $5.00
if you want to shell out for it.
If you have automated emails going to your phone from various places,
(server messages for me...) you will be billed $.10 for each
notification.
Cingular is looking better now....
Best Regards,
Ian

Are you stating this correctly? There has never been and never will
be a charge to SEND a message to a Sprint phone, or any other wireless
phones. Unless if Bill Gates pushes for the 10 cent email charge.
But there IS a charge if the handset receives the message. As I
recall, CS told me last summer that if I didn't have Vision, there
was a charge to receive text messages. So this really nothing new.

I beg to differ. Do your homework - a search in this ng on 'text
messaging' and 'free' and you will see that this is in fact NEW.
Also, was told by a CSR that it is new...

Eh? I have *always* been charged for (what used to be called) "Wireless
Web Messaging"- E-mail to "<phonenumber>@messaging.sprintpcs.com". I
used to have the $5 Wireless Web add-on which gave me 10 (or 50, I
forget) WWMs for free, but there's never been a time (in recent memory,
and I've been with SPCS 'since 2/98) where they've been completely free
(without Vision).

I still am paying $5 for WW. It includes 50 Text Messages.
Memory is the said to be the second thing to go. I don't remember
the first!

OK, you didn't understand what I said.
Let me rephrase it:
There is NO charge to the SENDER of a test message (as in sending
party pays). Do you get charged when you go to Sprint's website
and send a message to a cellphone? Does it ask for your credit card
number to send the message? Of course not...
There IS a charge for the cellphone user to receiver the message,
if the user doesn't have Vision.

They were never free on non-vision phones, but on Vision phones we have
not been charged for our usage. We don't actually subscribe to vision,
instead preferring to pay by the KB.

This goes without saying and falls under the "No **** Sherlock"
category.

They have not charged in the past to have them delivered to Vision
phones, even without Vision on the plan (as long as the phone was
provisioned at one time for Vision).
BTW, I had several messages sent to my phone last month and I was NOT
charged for them. There was no line item on my bill for them
what-so-ever.
