    I'm finding that the volume on the Midi ringers is, on average, louder
    than the QCP (compressed WAV) ringers on my Samsung. Might be due to the
    compression.

    There are ways to tweak the QCPs to make them louder, though.

    try 3gupload.com for ringers, screensavers, and games.

    There is a fee, but you get unlimited downloads for a year.

    There are a couple of freeware programs that let you
    manipulate midi files, including increase the volume. I'm not terribly
    familiar with them myself, but for instance "Anvil Studio" is freeware
    that I think will let you do that. It's a bit of work, but may be
    worth the time spent.
