Currently I have the Samsung N400. There is nothing physically wrong
with it. However, I can not stand the annoyance of receiving
notifications and having to connect to the web in order to read
incoming messages, VERY ANNOYING. Now that SMS is so prevalent I
would like to be able to use it, not only receive as I can now with
    the N400.
The features I am most interested in are...
    1. GOOD RECEPTION
    2. SMS
    3. Vision
    4. Ability to connect laptop to Internet.
    5. Camera would be nice.

I really am stuck because the SPRINT phones are so LAME. They are all
larger than other service providers. They only have a few models at
any given time. No blue tooth and only one phone I have ever seen
from them with IRDA (nokia). I did try the 6225 NOKIA and it was very
nice except it had bad reception, so it went back. SPCS tried to tell
me that sanyo had the best reception but I wrote it off as though they
got an extra commission on them. Sanyo phones just look odd. What
about the 5225 LG phone... is that any good or the v60 Motorola or
even the a600 samsung. I even considered the treo600 because I could
get it for $299 with compusa price matching. I thought the treo would
be nice because I am a BIG PALM and PPC user. However, that treo is
    just TOO BIG and HEAVY.

Sorry to throw out such a BROAD post but I see very little in the
group about usability and reception of the new line of sprint phones.
Most posts are about problems with the phone.

    Thanks.

    Fearless

TREO 600 will give you all of the above.

I highly recommend the Samsung A680 (prefix missing on model number ...
can't recall what it is). Anyway, this phone has all the features you
mention above with the addition of using 15 second video clips and
ability to play Real Player and Mobile TV clips! I bought this phone
when it was first released [from Radioshack] and couldn't be much
happier. I have not even updated the firmware to latest revision and
    have no trouble with it.

Generally Samsung phones are SGH- for GSM phones, SCH- for non-Sprint CDMA
phones like those sold by Verizon, and SPH- for Sprint CDMA phones.

It seems this phone is listed as the SPH-A680 or the VM-A680. I believe
they moved to the latter name because of the "video" enhancements.

Samsung doesn't call it the VM-A680. Sprint does.

My phone is the VI-660. But it still says A660 under the battery.
