I brought my own phone to Sprint last year and signed up for the $50
Free and Clear America plan plus the $15 premium vision plan. My
typical bill is $85.
I would like to add another line and use the Flexible Family plan,
expecting my usage to go up by 100% in terms of minutes. My current
plan is expiring this month. Is Sprint going to refuse to give me a
free phone for the second plan?
Note: for all you trolls who disparage people for demanding the best
value in their cell plan by insisting Retention give them fair value,
spare me. Sprint gave me NOTHING when I first signed up a year ago.
Now I want my props. You are not subsidizing my plan, you are just
being a sucker by not being a squeaky wheel.

So, how about some additional details then. How many minutes do you think
you and your family member think you will use, outside of calls between
yourselves?
As for the second phone, you should qualify for a discount, but it may cost
you a 2 yr. contract on that phone. Shouldn't be a big deal if you are
satisfied with the coverage you are on now with your area.

When you add a new line to your account, you get the discount for the new
handset if you sign up that new line to a 2-year agreement. You won't
automatically get a free phone unless you choose one of the lower-priced models
that they offer free. We recently added our two teenage children to our plan and
switched to the Fair & Flexible for Families, it is a great deal. In your case,
I would recommend you put both lines under this plan, as the second line you are
wanting to add would be free, as it is included in the plan. Your charges would
be: $75 for the Fair & Flexible America with 800 minutes plus $15 for your
Vision plan. You'll also get unlimited PCS-PCS minutes so any calls you might
make between the lines on your account would not be charged against your anytime
mins.

Thanks. That's exactly the answer I was hoping for.

Why shouldn't they? They'll ask you to sign a contract for that new
line of course, but a free or heavily discounted phone would be pretty
easy to get under those terms.

1. This wouldn't be a retention deal. It's the same deal anyone would
get for a new line of service through standard channels.
2. The fact that you're making a fuss when no fuss even needs to be made
pretty much make sit looks like you're accusing and incriminating
yourself of wanting to bilk someone out of something. So, maybe it's
true after all. It's just sad and a little amusing to watch someone who
thinks they're robbing the store when the store is already giving the
goods away.
