RANT: Sprint Email Messages

I am a former Verizon user and am disappointed that sprint does not offer a
simple email address for text messages to cell phones. Verizon uses
[email protected].

Sprint uses [email protected]. This address is too
long for people to remember and type correctly. Sprint should use an email
address like: [email protected].

That would certainly be a lot easier for people that send emails to your
cell phone. I hope that someone from Sprint reads these emails so that they
could possibly implement this suggestion.

Yeah because when you are "MESSAGING" a "SPRINTPCS" phone
it is so hard to remember the phone-number@"MESSAGING"."SPRINTPCS".com. It
is not hard to remember and isn't hard to type out since you normally
would be using the email-address form from a computer anyway.

Believe it or not Sprintpcs' version is easier then some other carriers.
Such as: @mobile.att.net
@page.metrocall.com
@message.alltel.com

Nextel uses "@messaging.nextel.com", like Sprintpcs does. While T-Mobile
uses "@tmomail.net" which like Verizon doesn't necessarily show that it is
for a cellphone.

The current address is fine and at least they provide it. If you are
having trouble remembering the word "messaging" then might I suggest a
sticky note?

teleflip is very cool. I can send a message to any phone using the
[email protected] email address.

Can't those people save that SMS address to their phone books? I ask as I
don't know, as I don't use SMS.

On their phones, the address is unnecessary, since they simply send it
to the phone number. No need for the "@messaging.sprintpcs.com" tail.

I don't have a gripe with the length of the address. My gripe is with
the character limitation of the messages that can be sent.

It sounds cool, but keep in mind that...

vi) Teleflip does not monitor, review or control the content of the
messages transmitted via the Service and has no obligation to do so, but

....and you are giving out your recipient's cell phone number to a third
party. There's no way to know what that third party will do with that
number. You have to trust that they will respect their privacy policy.

I think I'll just keep a shortcut for messaging.sprintpcs.com on my
Treo, thanks...

on my plan and each has its owne-mail ID

I just punch in the 10 digit phone number and they get the text message

True, but it would still be nice to be able to get longer text
messages. For example, when wundgerground sends out a storm warning,
you don't get much info in the allotted 160 characters. So I have the
messages sent to my email account, which sends a text message to the
phone, so that I can start Vision and and then get the email warning
message. Rather inconvenient, but there seems to be no better
approach.
