Well, I love this phone -- but

I've been through three of these now and the third has now
also started to flake out. It's just insane/inexcusable that
these things should be this bad.

All three phones have now had problems with the battery just
sometimes deciding to burn at a high rate. I'll go from fully
charged to dead flat in ~3 hours.

Has anyone else seen this or do I just have really bad luck?

This latest phone has also exhibited 2 other problems,
in addition to the fast-discharge -- 2/3 of the small
LCD pixels have turned white all the time and about once
a week both displays turn all-white and the phone can't
be used without pulling the battery & replacing. At least
this means I'm not going to have to argue with their
sales staff about 'lets try an extended-life battery'

<rant> I know they don't pay sales staff well enough that
they're gonna be people who understand physics but jeez,
when I pickup my phone off my desk and find it notably
warm to the touch it's pretty damned obvious that it's
using the battery -- this has happened even after turning
the phone off but with the battery in with 2 bars and
find it dead an hour later and they still say 'well lets
try an extended life battery' </rant>

Again, I love this phone for features but whether these
problems are some software or hardware flake it's not
acceptable, I'm bloddy tired of their sales people saying
'well samsung phones just use battery fast, why don't we
give you a different (e.g. sanyo) model' -- they charge
top dollar for this phone and every cellphone I've had
before has lasted 3-4 years or more.

Thoughts on dealing with sprint cust svc on this?

I have had no such problems with my A700. I've had the battery last up
to 5 days so far, and NEVER drain more than one bar in a whole day.

Which is exactly how these phones work for me until theydecide to go
    'flaky'.

Perhaps I should not carry them in a pocket but that's how I've carried
my phones for nearly 10 years now and it's never been a problem before
