I called Sprint and added the "America" add-on. They told me that it
was $5/mo. I just got my first bill and they are charging $10/mo. I
called and they said in Arizona it's $10/mo. I was looking and noticed
they have me on the "Free and clear america" add-on while I have the
fair and flexible plan. Does that matter?
Also, I am currently out of Sprint's service area on a business trip. I
called and asked if I still get mobile to mobile while roaming, or does
it use my main minutes. They said mobile to mobile still applies even
while roaming. Is that true? Does that mean night and weekends apply
also?
Sorry for all the questions, this "america" add-on has confused me. I
seem to get different information everytime I call and am having
problems finding definte information.
Just some more information... just in case. My home coverage area is in
SE Arizona (Sierra Vista, AZ)... where Alamosa is the actual company.
If that matters...
Thanks in advance!!

Sure does. The America addon is $5/month in areas operated by Sprint
themselves (like here in southern California), $10/months in areas operated
by affiliates like Alamosa PCS. The rep screwed up. You should call and see
if you can convince them to give it to you for $5/month since that's what
you were told.

Re: "America" add-on
I was under the impression that Sprint PCS to Sprint PCS only applied
while you were on the Sprint PCS network (including affiliates doing
business as Sprint PCS), not while you are roaming.

Be sure to check your contract ("Advantage" Agreement) expiration date.
I just updated my Fair & Flexible plan with the roaming (F&F America)
add-on, also. (I'm in a corporate market, so it costs me only $5 per
month.) I specifically asked about a possible AA extension, and I was
specifically told by the *2 rep that there would be none (several
times). I guess she was too busy trying to upsell me to other options (I
couldn't get her off the phone!)... The website now shows I've been
signed up for another two years.
Another annoyance is that this update counts as a "plan change," so my
online usage details became unavailable from the day after my order
until the start of my next billing cycle (even though the change did not
start until the next cycle). This is a longtime quirk of the Sprint PCS
billing software. From past experience, I knew to wait until just a few
days before the end of my billing cycle to order the update.
Two caveats for those considering such plan updates.

Well... here we go again.
First of all, it's been just a bit more than a year since I worked
there, so when it comes to plans, I'm starting to drift a bit out of
touch. There was word that one or more affiliates had started "fully"
participating in the "America" add-on, but at higher price. So it's
possible that you are indeed on Free&Clear America (F&CA for short).
It's also possible that Alamosa doesn't fully participate in the
"America" option, and your $10 is most likely giving you 100 minutes of
roaming.
Well... if I recall the Alamosa plans correctly, that is.

No, PCS-to-PCS calling does NOT apply while roaming. Basically, if you
pay for it beyond "regular" voice services (VM, call waiting, 3-way,
etc), then it probably doesn't apply while roaming. There are
exceptions, but that's a good rule of thumb.

No problem. It *is* confusing sometimes. I just hope I'm giving you
the straight dope. I'm 99% sure it was the real thing when I worked
there.

I just hope it helps.
