Unlimited Internet with Laptop Card

Verizon is now offering unlimited internet with a laptop card for $40/month.
I am still paying Sprint $80/month for the same service. Does anyone know if
Sprint is going to lower their price for unlimited internet?

Oh, I'm sure that they will if they notice a lot of defections. Have you
tried calling into SPCS to say you want to cancel your data coverage, and
see whether they might work with you on giving you a better price?

I just started using Sprint data about 4 months ago and therefore I would be
liable for the ETF, however it would be worth it to eat the ETF in order to
get a lower price. I will try giving them a call.

Ah! O.k., yes. I have Sprint phones already so that would be fine.
Too bad they won't allow a (reasonable) voice plan on the connection
cards. I'd love to put one in the car.

I did think it would be worthwhile to go with a different carrier so
that I would have a little diversity. I'm not thrilled with Verizon's
terms of service, though; pretty much everything except simple e-mail
and Web browsing is prohibited. (I'm still looking for Sprint's ToS.)

While I haven't looked at Verizon, how can they restrict the type of data?

My voice plan is not with Sprint. I use Sprint for my data and have an
unlimited plan for $79 which I will try to get lowered to $59.

I subscribe to the laptop plan on my PDA (Audiovox 6600) which will be
EVDO compatible very soon. I tether the unit to my notebook all the
time and tolerate the extra level of hassle of the tether to have the
advantage of the wirelss data on my PDA as well.

One advantage that I find with the Sprint plan is that calls on the
Sprint network (on data only plans) are $0.20 a minute. While that
would be expensive for a cell phone plan, it is a great rate for a back
up phone. When I find that I have only Sprint (network) coverage and
do not have Cingular coverage, it is a nice fallback. It has also been
helpful the one or two times that my cellphone battery died on me.

It's not so much that they restrict it as that they prohibit the type
of data (and other facets) on the unlimited plan. The threat is that
if they decide you've been doing something prohibited they'll bill at
the high per MB rate.

Yes, I realize that many people get away with not adhering to the ToS
but I like to be open about what I'm doing and I don't want to get
dinged by my carrier.

i.e. for businesses and government agencies only, that'd be my
interpretation... not for individuals
