Something like the WiFlyer (http://www.alwaysonwireless.com/wiflyer.html)
could work, I imagine.

Can you supply more details on how you use this? I asked a question here
about a month ago about using 'Vision' high speed for my home computer
(no dsl or cable available & satellite too expensive & slow on uploads).
The answer I got then was that it wasn't satisfactory for internet
access. Primary use is web browsing/email with occasional downloads for
software updates, etc. Being able to network a 2nd computer would be
desirable.
Thanks,
Charlie

Lets take it one step at a time.
First, connect your Sprint phone to your computer. Assuming you have
the appropriate data cable and drivers (drivers can be found at:
www.futuredial.com ), you'll need to create a "connectoid" or DUN (Dial
Up Networking) entry. This is done the same way as if you were
connecting a modem to your computer to connect to the internet.
Start Button > Settings > Control Panel > Network Connections. Use the
New Connection Wizard.
1) Select Connect to the internet
2) Select Set up my connection manually
3) Select Using a dial-up modem
4) Select you Sprint USB phone
5) Type in any name you want, i.e. Sprint Phone
6) Type in #777 for the phone number.
7) Type in your Vision username and password
Second, enable Internet Connection Sharing on the computer your phone is
tethered to. Go back to Network Connections (see above) and right mouse
your new connectoid. Select Properties > Networking Tab. Find
Internet Protocol then Properties. Both Select Obtain an IP Address
Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Automatically should be checked.
Next, go to the e Advanced Tab. Select the Windows's ICS sharing to make
your computer a router (it will be a DHCP server with IP gateway address
of 192.168.0.1).
Test your connections. From the primary computer, go to any website. If
you can get there, then your connected to the internet via your phone.
Third, connect your computer to a hub. All other computer that are
connected to the hub will get a dynamically assigned IP address from the
primary computer's DHCP server (usually starting off with 192.168.0.2).
Fourth, set the TCP/IP Properties on all the other computers. Select
Obtain an IP Address Automatically (it will be obtained from the primary
computer's DHCP server) and Obtain DNS Server Automatically (see below),
and also under Advanced Settings, set the Default Gateway to 192.168.0.1
Diagnostic steps as needed:
1) At the OTHER COMPUTERS, go to the Command Prompt,
Start button > Run > Type in CMD or COMMAND for Win98)
2) At the C Prompt, type in IPCONFIG (then hit Enter) and you see the IP
address assigned as 192.168.0.x, default gateway as 192.168.0.1, and
don't worry about the DNS server addresses yet.
3) See if you are seeing the primary computer. At the C Prompt again,
type in PING 192.168.0.1 (that's the IP addy for the primary computer,
i.e. the Gateway) and you should get four response:
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time=1382ms TTL=47
4) See if you have basic connectivity. At the C Prompt again, type in
PING 216.109.112.135 (that's the IP addy for yahoo.com) and you should
get four response:
Reply from 216.109.112.135: bytes=32 time=1382ms TTL=47
4) See if you have URL resolution (converting a URL to an IP addy). At
the C Prompt again, type in PING yahoo.com and you should see:
Pinging yahoo.com [216.109.112.135] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 216.109.112.135: bytes=32 time=1382ms TTL=47
5) Download Opera or FireFox and enjoy your internet experience.

Forget using the term "router". That's not what your looking for.
Besides, your cellphone has no DHCP capabilities and therefore can never
be a router.
It sounds like you want to use the built in browser of your Sony
Playstation connected to the internet via your cellphone with USB.
No...it cannot be done. Period, end, stop.
Here's why - - - Your cellphone is a USB "device" and can only connect
to a USB "host" which is a computer (desktop or laptop). Your PSP is a
"device" also and can only connect to a host. You cannot connect two
clients together, nor can you connect two hosts together, however there
are special smart cables that allow you to connect two computers
together with a USB connection. Basically those special smart cables
have a device/host/device midspan so the each computer sees a USB device
out there.
Unfortunately there is no special cable that can connect two USB
"devices" together. Unlike the old RS-323 serial connection method where
you could use a null modem to swap the data pairs.
No..wait...there MIGHT be a way!!!
Connect your cellphone USB to a wireless print server (the wireless
print server can act like a USB host, but...but...you would have to
figure out how to load the necessary drivers to support your phone into
the print server. Then WiFi over to another printer server. Now you'll
have to write your own USB drivers for the print servers to recognize
the the phone and PSP
Since Linksys wireless routers Linux build for firmware, its likely
their wireless print servers also run Linux. All you have to do is write
some new Linux firmware code with embedded drivers and you're home free.

By that logic nearly all of my routers aren't really routers, since they
aren't handling DHCP. But of course they are routers. In other words,
DHCP and IP routing are two entirely different functions. A router may
have DHCP "server" functionality, but that's not what makes it a router.
As far as the rest/point of this thread... never mind, don't want to get
into it.

I suppose I should have qualified my answer a bit to include that.

Re: Using my cell phone as a wireless modem
Bottom line is he wants to connect a USB device to another USB device
and that's not realistically going to happen.

I should have added a smiley face to denote my sarcasim about writing
his own Linksys firmware.
