You should have digital coverage in all those places, with analog
roaming in between. Sounds like you're going on a cruise. You may get
analog coverage pretty far out from the ports.

Just be glad you don't have GSM! When I was in Alaska three years ago
there was no GSM yet, though now some carriers are converting from TDMA
to GSM.

AMPS is really the king of coverage in Alaska.

I just cam back from Alaska Cruise. I did not get chance to check coverage in
Anchorage as I boarded the bus for Whittier straight from the airport.

I have Treo 650.

In Skagway phone was on digital roam.
In Juneau I had Sprint coverage in the ship and in town.
In Ketchikan phone was on digital roam.
In Vancouver phone was on digital roam.
