    Hi,

    Seeking advice.

Just had an almost new phone stolen from my car. I had just gotten a
new phone, but hadn't taken insurance. SO.... no replacement possible
and no rebate since I used it a few months ago.

Buying a full price phone is Painful.

Is there anywhere to safely buy a Sprint phone used - just a basic
phone, I don't use any bells and whistles?

    Lots of options.

    Craigslist.org

    ebay.com

    Local classified

Spritn has a high churn rate so there's always former customers
    with phones to sell.

It also might be worthwhile explaining the situation to Sprint,
preferably at a store. Tell 'em a refurb would be fine.

I agree that eBay and CraigsList are excellent options, too.

Are you filing a claim for damages to your vehicle? Possibly your auto
    insurance will cover contents.

Not enough of value was stolen to claim and it happened in Vancouver,
we live in Bay Area of CA - so too complex.

What phone did you have stolen? Just curious if it resembled a hockey puck.

The 4920 is a good phone. I had one for a few years before upgrading
to the HTC Mogul a couple of months ago. The Mogul is great for it's
all-around functionality, but for a basic phone with a great signal
and long battery life, the 4920 was hard to beat.

I still have mine...I'm not sure how to completely wipe the memory, or
    I would consider selling/donating it.

    There's a menu option under 'security'. I'm afraid I don't
have the handset in front of me at the moment, but it's there.

    Success on Craig's list.

Got a nice little Samsung with accessories and earbud for $49.
Sprint hooked it up and didn't even charge a fee.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.
