Sounds like the outline for a new movie, starring Chevy Chase.

Or just a B.S. plug for T-Mobile. Why couldn't you roam on T-mobiles towers?
Oh yeah, probably because they were down too!!!

Too late. Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis made "The Out of
Towners" 20 or so years ago. I just lived it this week.

the fact that t-mobile is gsm and sprint phones are 1900mhz pcs/800mhz cdma
and analog might have something to do with it...maybe it's just me but i
didnt think gsm and cdma played nice together...well sprint phones anyways.

....btw damn i hate using outlook express as my news reader...i always hit
reply instead of group reply and send an email to the poster instead of
posting my stupidity here ugh !!!

Well Ed, I don't think Chris is out to convert us all to T-Mobile.
And, unless you're talking about analog, tmc is right. As I'm sure
you're aware, Sprint CDMA can't roam on T-Mobile GSM.

Loved the story, Chris. Sorry about your bad luck -- as David Ives
would point out, it's "all in the timing."

Not uncommon for Hollywood to "remake" 20 year old movies.

I think tt was re-done, Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, or at least it had
    the same title.

But it was based upn a Garbage collectors strike, not a Power outage,
if I recall. Then they could also stick in getting stuck at an airport
because of "Bush-lock" when Secret Service won't let anyone in or out
when the President is arriving or departing.

You know you don't have to be so quick to assume that anyone who says a bad
word about SprintPCS is lying. I had the same experience. With Verizon
worked relatively well for me, T-Mobile a little less well. Sprint barely
worked at all (unless roaming off network). I have friends in New York who
had similar statement about their service, but the general consensus was
that with T-Mobile about 3 out of 5 calls worked. With Sprint it was about 1
in 20. But that indicates that the network (or certain towers at least) was
    functioning, although probably overloaded.

And just how would you recommend I roam on T-Mobile? Not
only are they a totally different technology, but all roaming is
controlled by the PRL which Sprint installs--and they don't seem to have
any roaming agreements with companies they are electronically
incompatible with, for some silly reason.

    Jerk.
