I am a new customer on a shared plan. I have the Sanyo 8100 while my
daughter has the Samsung N400. My service is really good but her phone
does not ring half the time I call her. Her phone rings on my end and
then goes to voicemail. On her end it never rings but if the caller
leaves a voicemail her phone does notify her. If the caller does not
leave a message it does not show up as a missed call. We are always in
Phoenix and this occurs if she is inside or out. Last night we went
out in the backyard and I called her. The phone was ringing in my ear
but her phone wasn't. I looked at her phone and it said Analog Roam
while my phone was showing 3 bars on the sprint system.
Should I call them or would it be better to go in to the store. Or is
this phone that much worse than my Sanyo?
    Thanks!!

Either the N400 in question is defective or needs to have an update PRL.

(Firmware with the Preferred Roaming List) Don;t fight with it, take it
    in and replace the N400.

Or it could be the simple fact that everybody I know that owns a N400
has RF issues......either upgrade to a newer Samsung (if you get an
A500, make sure it has the most recent softward, I believe that's W29)
or get a Sanyo. The N400 is nothing but problems.

This has something to do with the signal/area too. I have several Sanyo
    phones, so I can tell.

personally i used to have the N200, which is theh previous version of
theh n400 and my friend has the n400,, and quite frankly all iterations
of that pjhone design are just plain horrible in every way. They are
slow, non responsive , constantly drop calls, and just really more
trouble than they are worth. I would suggest getting your daughter a
slightly better phone,, that should alleviate a lot of the problem.

It's the Samsung. They are known to have problems. Poor signal holding
ability, frequent dropped calls, and buggy software. And it's not just
the N400. I've used the N200, the A460, and the A500, and all were
operating poorl in places where I've seen Sanyos, Kyoceras, Nokias and
even the old Qualcomms and Motorola Startacs on Sprint PCS work just
fine. Why Sprint continues to sell Samsung phones is something I can't
    figure out.

I'd sell or return that dog and get her a Sanyo. Things will be much
    improved for her.
