Does Sprint sell their display phones in the store when those models are
discontinued? For instance the Sprint store by my house told me the
Sanyo 4900 has been discontinued, but they still have one on display, I
did not think of it at the time, but does anyone know if there is a
possibility of them selling it to me at a discounted price or do they
    do anything else with them?

No, usualy the phones are too beat up to sell.

In rare occasions, if the phone is in 100% working condition and still
in pristine condition, they may use it for a warranty exchange (after
its not required to be out), but thats very rare.
