My contract ends soon and I received a letter from sprint offering a
5% discount off my monthly service price for as long as I remain a
sprint customer if I sign a one year contract extension...
Should I wait until my contract runs out to see if I'm offered
something better, or can anyone confirm if they've received a better
offer to stay?

Use Google and find the "Retention FAQ' posted earlier this month for other
ideas.

Re: loyalty discount
SprintPCS has dumped the "Retention" department. It's now called Customer
Goals or something like that. Also, the retention plans from last year are
no longer available and SPCS isn't as willing to work with customers.

yes and no. If one calls up Cancellation, and says I'm
considering going to xxxCellular because yyy makes it advantageous for me, can
Sprint do anything to make me consider staying? POOF, you'll be offered some
retention deal.

That's true... just not near as good as 6 months ago.

Or you will be transfered to cancelations to process your cancel
request exactly like you wanted.

In this case, we couldn't be so lucky.

Depends on your record. If you pay on time, Sprint wants to keep you and you
get a deal taht would choke a horse. They have stopped giving free Vision
apparently.

100% wrong. Cancellations and retention are the same place/department now. They
don't want you to cancel, they want to retain you.
Sounds like sour grapes from someone who didnt get a Retention deal.

I isn't sour grapes as I am still under my original contract. Sorry
about the different department deal but that was not my point. The
point was I have read here in the past that sometimes they will not
offer you a better deal, but only offer your request to cancel the
service. Maybe you mised those posts in the past. You may want to
read the thread that started today with the subject "No Retention Deal
for me?" or search google for past retention deals before you call me
100% wrong about NOT being offered a deal.

Re: loyalty discount
Right about the time all the Sprint apologists were trying to convince folks
that once you got a Retention deal, you'd never get another one; I got a 2nd
retention plan, a newer sweeter deal.

Just what is this apologist crap you keep spouting Phillipe? And this double
talk from you as well. No one, I repeat no one, has ever said that one could
not get a another retention deal.
You really are one small pathetic sorry SOB.

Huh? WTF are you talking about? Was this meant to be a reply to my
statement or did you post to the wrong thread? You lost me on this
one.

Phil isn't locked to Sprint PCS only, he keeps wandering into
analog mode.
