The 2004 Toyota Prius (the 60 mpg gas/electric hybrid car) has Bluetooth
capability in two of its option packages.

Neither Sprint nor Verizon is currently offering any Bluetooth phones for use
    on their system.

The best Bluetooth deal out there currently is the
    Sony/Ericson T610 (free after rebates) from T-Mobile
    http://www.intelenetwireless.com/

It is apparently just like the T608, but has the camera built-in.

Only downside is that its T-Mobile.

No, but the Treo 600 is BT capable via its SD slot. So there is, at least,=
    =20
    *some* option.

Nice try. No such device exists.

Palm does sell a BlueTooth SD adapter for its line of PalmPilots

    http://store.palm.com/product/index....ductId=1157338

But it is not compataible with the Treo 600

    ===

Handspring had partnered with Red-M for Bluetooth modules for its Handspring
Visors, but its not obvious that these devices are still (if ever) for sale,
and no Bluetooth device is listed for the Treo 600 by either red-M or
    Handspring's website.

    ...

So there seems to be no way currently of using a Treo 600 in a Bluetooth
environment, and the number one rule in technology, is don't buy promises.
    i.e. If you need Bluetooth,you shouldn't buy a Treo 600 until a bluetooth
adapter is on the shelves of your local SprintPCS or CompUSA store.

    Re: Bluetooth phone for Prius

    From http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/236-1.htm:

Handspring did not include Bluetooth into this device, but because of the
SDIO slot it is an option in the future. Handspring told us that they are
working with 3rd party companies to extend all the powers of the Treo to the
Bluetooth card. This includes not only data synchronization like most cards,
but the ability to use Bluetooth headsets, or act as a Bluetooth modem for a
PC or Mac. Adding a Bluetooth SD card to the Treo 600 family will cost
around $100 to $150. The current Palm branded card does not work with OS 5.

Phonescoop.com gives this interesting quote though: "Speaking of Bluetooth,
the Handspring engineers specifically left room on the Treo 600 circuit
board for a Bluetooth module. It won't be included in initial releases, but
Handspring spokesperson Brian Jaquet said there was very strong possibility
that an updated version would be released with Bluetooth."

Thank you for confirming what I said. Bluetooth is not currently available for
the Treo 600, and SprintPCS has no Bluetooth phones currently.

Thus if someone wants to use a Bluetooth phone with their 2004 Toyota Prius
now, there is no way of doing it with Sprint devices.

It is always dicey buying things based on what is "planned" for the future.
Companies are free to change their mind, and so it is recomnmended in
    technology "Don't buy promises".

Interesting. It doesn't list *any* Treo on its page, and yet InfoSync Worl=
    d=20
magazine got it to work on a Treo 90:

    http://www.infosync.no/news/2002/n/2711.html

"The Palm Bluetooth card works as advertised. It adds a solid Bluetooth rad=

Ah hem. The Treo 90 is not a Palm Phone.
It has the Treo form factor, but no phone.

So its very easy to conceptualize why a Bluetooth adapter designed for
Handspring Visors might work in it; it does not work in the Treo 600; which
currently has no Bluetooth capability either built in or add on.

Thus there is no SprintPCS bluetooth possibility.

Doesn't matter. It, too, is not listed in the compatible models, and=20
yet InfoSync World got it to work with virtually no trouble at all.

You worry about the differences, that doesn't change the fact that it=20
worked outside the listed compatibility chart.

FOOL. Of course ot matters. You add circuitry and firmware for a phone to a
Palm Device its a totally different device. Maybe you never heard of
    "interference"?

Live with it, there's no Bluetooth available for
a Treo 600, and SprintPCS has no Bluetooth phones available now.

When and if the Sony T608 comes out from Sprint, then SprintPCS will have
    something.

Meanwhile the better Sony T610 is available FREE
    (after rebates) from T-Mobile now.

Another ID, Phill? If not, how do you know it won't work? First you=20
say it doesn't exist, now it's not on the list, even though *another*=20

    Re: Bluetooth phone for Prius

Vargas got caught again making up an answer.

Hoping a Bluetooth device works is not the same as it works. the Treo 90 is
identical except in form factor to Handsprint Visor, so big surprise the
Handsprint Visor Bluetooth adapter works there.

A Treo 600 so so different that only Vargas wouldn't realize that a Palm phone
is different than a vanilla Palm device, and that circuitry and interference
and firmware will prevent any bluetooth device not specifically designed for it
to work. That is why Handspring doesnt list it for sale. The reason they don't
list it for the Treo 90 is that the Treo 90 is discontinued.

THERE IS NO BLUE TOOTH FUNCTIONALITY YET AVAILABLE FOR THE TREO 600, and
SPRINTPCS sells no BLUETOOTH PHONES, except in Vargas imagination.

And yet REAL experts, not a multiply-proven liar like yourself, say it
will work with *any* Palm device with an SDIO slot, which is exactly
    what the Treo 600 has.

Unlike you, Phill, I'm not make a conclusion, I'm reporting what
others have said who ACTUALLY USED THE DEVICE. You have *no* basis
for your claims above, even if they turn out to be true. You would be
right by dumb luck, not by logic.

With no URL to prove that claim.

That is only partly correct. "Will" work, when a proper device is so designed.

"The Bluetooth SD card doesn't support Palm OS 5 devices right now."

    http://www.powerpage.org/cgi-bin/Web...y?newsID=11544

The Treo 600 uses Palm OS 5, the Treo 90 uses OS 4.

So quit your lying, Mr. Embarrassment of SprintPCS.
There is currently no BLUETOOTH for Treo 600.

    Only your lying fantasies.
