TracFones on Verizon Network Get New PRL

I have two TracFone(s).

Nokia 5180i uses the Verizon (800Mhz CDMA/Analog) network
Nokia 1100 uses the Cingular ( PCS GSM) network


My 5180i has a new PRL version I just noticed:
WAS: 40013
IS: 40014

(Anyone know the difference between the two PRL versions?)

If you haven't updated your PRL in your Verizon networked TracFones in a
while, its time to do so.


Procedure:
*228 Call (Navi Key)
-wait for automated operator and choose Option 2

Other CDMA TracFone models will receive a 50000 series PRL update more than
likely. Please post the new PRL version here.

I usually see what's been added or subtracted before updating, at least
with a conventional VZW PRL. Likely service has been expanded.
Here's a clue. It appears the 4000 PRLs are for dualmode phones.
Doesn't tracphone use any 1900mhz systems/phones?
Seems using a dualmode phone is a limitation, since Verizon uses
1900mhz in many areas?

I use to think only having CDMA 800 & Analog was a limitation too, but
TracFone (CDMA models) can use Alltel, Suncom, American Cellular and others
CDMA 800 towers also. So where their isn't Verizon CDMA 800, there is
likely to be another local CDMA 800 carrier that my 5180i can use.
Verizon is about 99% CDMA 800 anyway.

The limitation now days is digital only phones in my opinion. Its often
like trying to use a digital paperweight to try to make calls on in rural
areas without digital coverage.
