I noticed and learned from eBay, that people are selling
phones that are already unlocked, because they are not branded.
But I thought that you had to buy service when you bought a
phone? Where can one buy a cell phone, w/o service needed to get that
price?

Ebay would be the be best bet. U can then buy a pre pay sim to use in the
cell phone
