My youngest daughter is moving to LA. I live in Cincinnati. She
recently purchased a Nextel phone and service. I think she liked the
glitzy phone and the walkie-talkie feature. I have "Working Assets"
which donates moneys to liberal causes but I have been averaging about
70 a month for cell and long distance. And I have dial-up for my
computer with Cincinnati Bell which is an additional 45 or more
(including Juno e-mail). My children and I are finally discussing a
change to a service which we could share/benefit from a family network
type of thing. My daughter in DC also has "Working Assets" and wants
to change her cell service as well. I have a son in Oxford, Ohio who is
still using his cell with a Minneapolis area code! I am not sure what
plan he has. I will be talking to him today.

This is all too complicated for me and I wonder if someone could
suggest if and how I could improve MY current communications systems
toward a more affordable yet efficient plan/plans. The friends and
family thing may not work unless we all change to Cingular? The
daughter moving to LA cannot change for a year since she signed a
    contract with Nextel.

Working Assets uses the Sprint system and sometimes in my own
neighborhood I find I am "roaming".

    Thank you,
    Sharon

    Re: best cellular service.

A friend of mine and his wife has Working Assets. As you stated, the service
is provided through Sprint. I have found that he is not able to take
advantage of good Sprint offers because they are not extended to the Working
Assets subscribers. I would dump Working Assets and sign-up directly with a
real cell service provider such as Sprint, Verizon, or Cingular. All of
these cell phone providers offer in-network calling so that you can call
other folks that are on the same cell service provider and not incur any
cost for the phone call. Since you are essentially already using Sprint, you
know if the service works well for you in your area. Where are you located?
