i am interested in getting a palm or a blackberry so i can email on the
road, but i have bad credit.i live near Philadelphia.

i do not want to do pre-paid because of the rates, and i don't think you can
use a palm or the like with prepaid.

is there anyway i can get a plan despite my bad credit? would i need to put
down a deposit? how much? or get a co-signer? fixing my credit is not a
possibility at this moment for various reasons.

    thanks for any help!

I think this has more to do with the phone than the provider,
though I would hate to commit to this
Pre-paid may be your only option at this point.

Each service supplier will decide if they want to sell you a
    plan.

    Most certainly.

That would be up to the provider. I would *guess* that it
    would be at least $300.00.

Repairing your credit is always an option. I suggest paying
off any and all outstanding bills. DO NOT acquire any more credit.
If your credit is bad, as you admit it is, getting more debt will NOT
    help you.
If you're on the road, you can check your E-mail from a cyber
cafe. Most public libraries have Internet access now. If you have a
lap top with WiFi, there are various places that offer free WiFi
access. Some restaurants have it available for customers.
These option will permit you to check your E-mail WITHOUT
having to have a cell phone.
